FAQs

Not always. In some cases, building an in-house team or a hybrid approach may be the better choice.

Our goal is to deliver greater value and flexibility by tailoring our operating model to your business, not by forcing your operations to fit our model.

We start by understanding your existing operations and future plans to identify where we can deliver the greatest value. If we're not the right fit, we'll point you in the right direction.

Supply Chain as a Service is a third party service that operates your supply chain—providing you the leadership, infrastructure, and execution without you building and managing the entire function internally or managing a network of 3PLs yourself.

Typically, consultants advise your team on what to do, brokers arrange shipments, and 3PLs perform the physical logistics of storing and moving your product.

Desso takes a broader operational role. Depending on your needs, we can lead and operate your existing in-house supply chain, manage and coordinate your current 3PL partners, or build and operate a supply chain using our vetted network of logistics providers.

In each case, we operate as an extension of your business, representing your interests and taking responsibility for the day-to-day execution and performance of the operation.

We share some characteristics with a 4PL, particularly in coordinating multiple logistics providers and managing supply chain execution on your behalf.

However, our role can extend beyond logistics management. Depending on your needs, we can lead and operate broader supply chain functions, work alongside internal teams, manage existing partners, and provide the infrastructure and day-to-day execution needed to operate as an extension of your business.

Not unless there is a clear reason to do so, such as performance issues, unnecessary cost, or an opportunity to improve service levels—any change is under your control and would be made with your approval.

We can work alongside your existing team and partners, extend your team for a new product, market, or growth initiative, take ownership of specific functions, or operate a larger portion of your supply chain. We build the partnership around what your business needs today and where it’s headed.

Yes. For businesses launching a new product, entering a new market, or establishing a new operation, we can design and implement the infrastructure needed to operate—from warehousing and logistics through order processing, fulfillment, returns, and reporting.

Pricing is based on the scope, complexity, and level of responsibility involved.

In many cases, the model offers greater flexibility and can be more cost- and time-efficient than building and maintaining the equivalent supply chain leadership, infrastructure, and operational capacity on your own.

It starts with a conversation. Tell us about your operation, and we’ll tell you whether we’re a good fit—no drawn-out discovery process.

If we can add value, we define the scope, responsibilities, and discuss next steps.

Yes. While we typically operate as a long-term partner, we also take on focused initiatives and shorter-term transformations based on your needs.

Our agreements are structured with flexibility in mind, with contractual commitments kept to a minimum where possible.

The goal is to build a partnership that continues because it adds value—not because you’re locked into a contract.

No. We operate through a vetted global network of warehouses, carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, and other logistics providers rather than being tied to our own physical assets.

This gives us the flexibility to build and manage the right network around your operation instead of fitting your business into a fixed infrastructure.

Depending on the scope and complexity of your operation, we can get started in days, not weeks.

For larger or more complex engagements, we follow a structured transition plan designed to minimize disruption and align with your operational needs.

Yes. We support domestic and international supply chains, including imports and exports, product classification, customs clearance, authorized representation, all modes of transportation, and global warehousing, fulfillment, and distribution.

Yes. Depending on the material, destination, and mode of transportation, we can coordinate the storage and movement of regulated and hazardous materials, including lithium-ion batteries, gas cylinders, chemicals, and certain biohazardous materials.

We utilize qualified carriers, warehouses, and logistics partners with the appropriate certifications, licenses, and permits to maintain compliance with applicable regulations.

We treat client information, operational data, and trade secrets as confidential and use them only as needed to perform the agreed scope of work.

Where appropriate, we can operate under confidentiality agreements and establish access controls and information-sharing practices based on your needs.
